Is it weird to have a baby shower for a third baby?!?

This is a friend of Emily's and I was wondering if it is weird that my mom threw me a baby shower for my third child? I have two girls right now, and this is our first boy, and my mom and step-dad only having granddaughters they threw me a baby shower. I was told you don't have a shower if it's not your first baby, but I think it's ridiculous. My mom is excited to have her first grandson and she wanted to "welcome" him...(:
